– Glyn Jones came to Collège La Platière to show us a play « The Story of England » It was on the 25th of October 2012. The story started with 2 boys, Jimpson and Simpson playing music. There were witches preparing
a magic potion with a pony tail and an arrow. King Harold is killed by the French. Henry VIII married six wives to have a son.Then he died.
I like this play, many scenes are funny.

– In this show we saw the story of England played by the actor Glyn Jones.We began with the Middle Ages, then we saw the actor acting the Story of England, he made all the kings of England, as for example king Harold, a king who died from an arrow in the eye. In the show he also told the story of :
kings like Henry VIII ,who married six women and who created the Church of England.
the witches who cast spells.
Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up everything.
Thus he told the Story of England

– Glyn Jones performed the Story of England at Collège La Platière on October 25th. The play started with 3 sisters, 3 witches. They are called « MacDonald’s sisters. They were Naomie, Kenza, Juliette.
The recipe was : The royal ragout made of a horse tail, one fresh eye, one spicy dart.

1. The knight Simpson was Fabien. The page Jimpson was Nicolas. The kings’ players were François and Florian. The King Harold and Simpson, Jimpson, the king’s players were going to hunt for a bird. They met MacDonald’s sisters.
2. King Harold died from an arrow in his eye with William the Conqueror.
After, Henry VIII went on the trone. He wanted a son, but finally he got one after his 5th wife. Henry VIII died when he had his 6th wife.
Then Guy Fawkes wanted to explode the parliament, going through the sewage. But the bomb didn’t explode.
After the United Kingdom colonized different countries.
This lead us to the First Worl War and the second World War.
After the wars and the death of Henry VIII, there was peace and fox hunting was banned.

My opinion : I liked the play : the 3 sisters and 3 witches in « MacDonald’s sisters », Henry VIII, the hunting of the fox and all the different actors.

– Glyn Jones came to the college to play « The story of England » for us, on Tuesday, October 25th. He wrote this play and made the scenery. The story starts with Jimson and Simpson and two King’s musicians. Next, three witchees prepared a potion in a cauldron where they put a pony tail, an eye and an arrow. King Harold is killed by the French at the battle of Hastings. Then Henry VIII married six wives to have a son. One wife died in childbirth. Shortly after marrying his sixth wife the king died. In this play the audience could hear two songs : « summer is icumen in » and « greensleeves ». This play represents the story of England in a funny way but it was a bit boring. I loved the costumes and the scenery, that were very successful.

– The Story of England

The story of England is very rich in events.In his play ,Glyn Jones tells us three important events : the Battle of Hastings,the gunpowder plot and, and King Henry VIII with all his wives.

1)The Battle of Hastings :
On the 14 October 1066 ,this battle took place between King Harold and William the Conqueror. This battle took place in the South of England,the Normans landed by suprise, because the English fought the Norwegians in the north . The battle lasted all day, it was very hard. Williams army was strong because it had horses and archers. King Harold died in the battle, William the conqueror won and he was crowned King of England, in Westminster Abbey.
2) Henry VIII was the King of England, he was born in 1491 and he died in 1547.His first wife was Catherine of Aragon, the king wanted a son but the child did not came. The king asked the pope to cancel his marriage. The pape refused. The Church of England was born as a result of this dispute. Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, she became queen but her husband was executed. Jeanne Seymour, his third wife bore a son but his son died. Henry VIII had three other wives but he never had a son He died without a heir.
3) On the 5 november 1605 a group of English catholics with Guy Fawkes wanted to kill the King James 1. He was a protestant King. Guy Fawkes also wanted to kill members of the Houses of Parliament. He wanted to blow up the Palae of Westminster. He failed and he was executed with his accomplices.

– ARTICLE ABOUT THE STORY OF ENGLAND

Monday, 12 November in France.

On October 25th, Glyn Jones directed a play called the story of England, a play inspired by Shakespeare, a famous playwright. The performance took place in Thizy and we had to play parts. Indeed part of the play was a musical and all the scenery was realized by Glyn Jones. One of the characters Yoric told the story of King Henry VIII who maried six times and killed two of his wives. I really enjoyed this play, we laughed a lot because we had to use different props. To conclude, i really enjoyed it and it was a great experience !

The story of England took place in Collège la Platière on Thursday the 25th October.
This play was played by Glyn Jones. It’ s a very funny play.
Glyn Jones selected three girls among the audience, Kenza, Juliette and Naomi. They were the 3 weird sisters from Macbeth. And they prepared a magic potion in the cauldron with their puppets.
Then he selected four boys, François, Florian, Fabien and Nicolas. Jimson (Nicolas) and Simpson (Fabien) the knights were hunting with King Harold. But King Harold died while hunting. And Florian and François were the King’ s player. Then they played the horn for the King.
I found this play very funny and interesting because we laughed while telling the story of England.

The Story of England

The actor’s name is Glyn Jones. The play starts with two musicians playing the trumpet (Jimson and Simpson). Henry VIII married six wives to have a son.
My opinion : this play is very good because the actors were good on stage and the scenery looked great. The actor used many props. The main actor made four boys and girls participate. The boys played the part of Jimson, Simpson and the king’s musicians, the girls played the part of Macbeth’s 3 weird sisters.

On Thursday, 25th October, the students from 3° went to the show of Glyn Jones who presented his play « The Story of England ». There was a curtain, and a scenery.The actor was very funny. There were no prompters. In the play there were different characters. There was Fabien, who played the part of Simpson, a knight and Nicolas played the part of Jimson the assistant of the knight. Jimson is very very stupid. There were the three sisters too. They had a special recipe : Casie’s recipe : The royal ragout. The recipe was : a horse tail ; one fresh eye ; and a very sharp arrow, moreover there were two musicians. In 1066 king Henry VIII married six times. He had six wives to have one son.
Then Guy Fawkes wanted to explode the Parliament but he failed. In 1066, Harold was killed by Guillaume the Conqueror (by an arrow in the eye)

In my opinion : I found the show very interesting because I liked the numerous actors who were awkward to the audience.

William the conqueror attacked King Harold and he became the King of England. But there were many battles. Henry VIII, had six women and he died in 1547.
Guy Fawkes tried to explode the Parliament through the sewage. But he failed and was dragged by horses before being cut into four and he died.
England became the United Kingdom. It was the most powerful country in the world.
The United Kingdom colonized Africa, America and India.
They won the first world war and the second.
In 2005 fox hunting was banned, which marked the end of an era.

My opinion : The play was well done, the scenery was pretty and the actor well explained the history of England thanks to puppets

– The play took place on Thursday 25th October in Thizy.
The play was interesting because Glyn Jones has explained us the story of England, in a very funny way. He said to us that Henry VIII created the Church of England because he wanted to divorce and the pope refused his divorce. He divorced all the same. Then, he killed his other wives, until he had a son. At last, he died.
On January 31st 1606, Guy Fawkes wanted to explode the Parliament of London, but it failed. there were three very funny witches, but I do not know very well what they were doing.

The play took place in the meeting room of College La PLATIERE in Thizy on the twenty-fifth of October.

In this play there were eight charachters : Yoric the main character, Jimson and Simpson : they are two knights ; and three sisters who are witches. There were three puppets. King Henry VIII had married Catherine of Aragon . Henry and Catherine did not have a son. Some years letter Henry VIII divorced Catherine of Aragon. The King Henry VIII was very bad. Years passed and King Henry VIII married five other women. The three sisters witches were preparing their magic potion in a cauldron. They added socks that smelt awful, Harold’s eye and a red bird. I liked this play because it is funny.

– The play of the Story of England took place in the meeting room, on Thursday, 25th October . In the play there were Jimson, Simpson, the Kings’ players, the three witches and Yoric a clown’s skull from Hamlet. Jimson and Simpson were 2 knights. In the middle of the stage there was the scenery. The three witches’ cauldron was on the right and Clémence was on the left , she turned the pages of Glyn Jones ’s book. King Harold II fought against William the Conqueror. King Harold II was killed by William the Conqueror, he planted an arrow in his eye. Some time later, the three witches made a potion for King Henry VIII. King Henry VIII was married several times, some of these women were killed by him and another died of natural death. Finally King Henry VIII died. My opinion is positive because I liked this play, it was amusing. By Andréa R.

The story started with two boys, Jimpson and Simpson playing music. After, three witches prepared a potion with a pony tail, an eye and an arrow.
King Harold was killed by the French in the battle of Hastings.
Henry VIII married six wives to have a son. He died after his sixth marriage.

I didn’t really like this play. It was so childish. The scenery and costumes were not bad. The participation of the audience was not successful because it was badly organized and painful for the actors. But it’s just my opinion.
